Description:
w: PV4W Alamo Road Trail Run Jan 20 at 2:18 PM PrintRaw message MIKE ZAMAN Bcc: Robert Adams , John/Jeanne Allen , Mike/Nancy Alvarado , John/Carol Arthur , Donald/Deborah Ash more... As a second choice to this run, I will be leaving Smith's at 7:15 am to meet up with the other group at the Corn Creek Visitor Center. I will then lead a group over the Mormon Well's trail to Hwy 93 and then a stop for dinner on our way back to Pahrump. Mike Z. ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Denis and Sandi Inman Sent: Monday, January 20, 2020, 12:53:18 PM PST Subject: PV4W Alamo Road Trail Run We will be leaving the Corn Creek Visitor Center at 8:00 AM on Saturday, January 25th. The Driver's Meeting will be at 7:50 and for reference, it is 75 miles from Pahrump to the Visitor's Center. Please be aired down prior to starting the 70 mile Alamo Road trail that connects Desert NWR to Pahranagat NWR and the town of Alamo. I'm guessing we could possibly be in Alamo by around 3:00 PM, or maybe a little later. Be aware that the Desert NWR website says: Motorists wishing to drive on Alamo Road stand a very good chance of getting stuck at Desert Dry Lake. The dirt on the road has turned to powder, which is also referred to as “poof dirt.” The conditions are very hazardous, even for those familiar with driving in sandy conditions. Sandi and I drove up to the DNWR VC this morning to get a couple maps and to talk to the rangers about the current conditions at Desert Dry Lake. They indicated that they left that CYA on their website for the city people with a brand new Subaru, traveling alone, that think it constitutes a capable off road 4 Wheel Drive vehicle. At highway 93, you may either opt to drive 2.5 to 3 hours home or stay in Alamo for a trail run on Sunday. Sunday morning, the 26th, we will have a Driver's Meeting at 7:50 and leave the Alamo Sinclair at 8:00 AM to begin the 45 mile highway drive to the Mormon Wells Road trail head. Please be aired up for the 65 MPH caravan. We will air down at the beginning of the 47 mile Mormon Wells Road that goes over Desert Pass and back to Corn Creek. You may contact Denis & Sandi at denisandi@live.com for more information.
